Collision Investigation

Overview

We have extensive experience in the forensic investigation of road traffic incidents. Our team combines detailed engineering expertise with ex-police knowledge of vehicle dynamics and accident scene analysis, providing a comprehensive understanding of how and why collisions occur. Using both manual methods and industry-recognised computer simulation software, we reconstruct incidents to analyse vehicle trajectories, driver and witness visibility, and pre- and post-impact positions. We also produce accurate plans and reconstructions from scene photographs and other evidence. This technical insight is critical in determining causation, contributing factors, and liability in complex road traffic collisions.

Expertise in Road Traffic Collisions

Collision Reconstruction

Collision Reconstruction

Road traffic collisions (or accidents) are often traumatic incidents and litigation arising as a result is becoming more common as Court awards increase and injured parties become more aware of the compensation that might be available to them. Hawkins can provide detailed analysis of an incident and prepare forensic collision investigation and reconstruction reports suitable for use in Criminal or Civil Courts.

Vehicle Examination

Vehicle Examinations

Whether it’s a car, bus, truck, motorcycle, farm vehicle, or bicycle, Hawkins’ engineers examine factors like damage patterns, restraints, vehicle condition, defects, tire performance, and stability. Increasingly, they also analyze data from Event Data Recorders (black boxes).

Vehicle Types

Vehicle Types

Roads are shared by diverse users—from pedestrians and bicycles to cars, buses, and lorries, powered by conventional or electric systems. With this mix, conflicts and collisions are inevitable.
