Alexander Wildish

Alex started Engineering Forensics in 2015 and has over 14 years investigative experience, previously working for the Ministry of Defence, the Metropolitan Police Service and Burgoynes.​ He has investigated in excess of 300 incidents ranging from fatigued undercarriages on the R.A.F Tornado aircraft to attempted murder. He has investigated numerous major losses resulting from escapes of water & oil that have occurred as a result from a defective installation, defectively designed or manufactured parts to post installation damage. He has also investigated losses and fatalities resulting from fires & explosions to personal injuries that have resulted from failed Mobile Elevated Work Platforms & patient hoists, to slips, trips and falls. Alex has acted as an expert for the claimant, the defendant and has also acted as a single joint expert.

Jason Dean

Jason retired from the West Midlands Fire Service in September 2022 after 30 years, serving in roles including firefighter, instructor, and fire investigation officer. He led the fire investigation team from 2011 to 2014 and investigated over 800 fires, including more than 100 fatal incidents. His expert reports and court testimonies have earned him commendations from police and fire services. He is an Associate Trainer at the National Fire Service College and FireWiseUK, specialising in vehicle and electric vehicle fire investigations, and holds an IMI Level 3 Award in Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Systems. Jason has trained investigators in the UK and Middle East and is also an examiner for the Institution of Fire Engineers. Since 2016, he has worked with Engineering Forensics Ltd and now heads their fire investigation team.

James Holder

James has over 22 years of operational fire service experience, having served as both a firefighter and as a supervisory fire officer. Since 2011, James has been a full time fire investigator and has either led on or assisted with over 350 fire investigations, including over 60 fatal fire scenes involving accidents, unlawful killings and suicides. He has therefore tendered statements and reports as evidence to various courts and representatives of the insurance industry, containing his opinion in respect of fire cause and factors influencing fire development. As a result, James has presented his evidence orally in various courts on many occasions. Reflective of his experience, James is the regional representative of the United Kingdom Association of Fire Investigators, a Fire Investigation Associate Trainer at the National Fire Service College, Moreton and is an Institution of Fire Engineers Fire Investigation Examiner.

Jack Galer

Jack is a forensic mechanical engineer with over six years of experience in industrial and marine maintenance, previously working at E.T. Marine & Industrial Engineering Ltd. on assets like tugboats, sluice gates, and quay cranes. Since 2021, he has specialised in forensic investigations at Engineering Forensics, handling cases from domestic claims to major industrial failures. He has expertise in failure analysis, defective workmanship, and plumbing and heating issues, and has investigated structural collapses, electrical fires, and material defects. Jack translates complex technical findings into clear reports for legal and insurance clients. He is currently pursuing a Master’s in Advanced Metallurgy at the University of Sheffield (expected September 2025), focusing on metallic failure modes to further support clients across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors.

Mike Fogarty

Mike is a materials engineer with over 6-years’ of experience in the construction and mining industries in both the UK and internationally, 8-years’ of experience lecturing engineering, material science and mathematics in UK and Ireland colleges with 4-years of experience as a forensics engineer. Michael has provided expert advice to various parties, working on various capital projects. Furthermore, he has investigated a wide range of mechanical and electrical problems, including fires. These have ranged from defective design and installation to structural failures and personal injury. Michael has acted for claimants and defendants.

Luke Beckett

Luke has over 20 years fire service experience. Luke has served as a dedicated Fire Investigation Officer and has led over 300 fire investigations and assisted with many others. Luke has investigated all manner of fires, including fatal fire scenes, unlawful killings, accidental fire deaths, and suicides. Luke has provided statements, reports, and expert witness testimony in both HM Coroner’s and Crown Court’s, detailing his opinion regarding the origin, cause and development of fire’s. Luke has been recognised by both Police Forces and Fire & Rescue Service’s for the work he has done. Luke is a Fire Investigation Associated Trainer at the National Fire Service College, Moreton-in Marsh, and has served as a Director on the Board of the United Kingdom Association of Fire Investigators (UK-AFI).

Kevin Lehane

Kevin is a materials engineer with a secondary degree and MSc in quantity surveying. With over 7-years’ of experience in the construction industry, and 8 - years’ of experience lecturing engineering, material science and automotive engineering in the UK and Ireland. Kevin has provided expert advice on various issues for clients and contractors on many construction and mechanical projects. Kevin has an array of experience working on water escapes, M & E instances and building fabric issues as well as causation and leak detection. Kevin has also vast experience in contract law and cost migration from his many years experience in the construction industry.

Bob Wagstaff

Bob Wagstaff began his career as an Engineering Technician before serving 30 years with Bedfordshire Police, including 23 years as a specialist in collision investigation. He handled numerous fatal and serious injury cases, including murder investigations and major fraud cases such as "Operation Exhort," a £3.24 million ‘Cash for Crash’ scheme. Bob served as Senior Collision Investigator for Bedfordshire Police and later for the tri-force collaboration covering Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire. He has received multiple commendations, including from the Chief Constable and the Deputy Coroner for his outstanding service. Bob was previously registered with the Council for Registered Forensic Practitioners in Road Transport and maintains a strong focus on Continued Professional Development. He currently serves as External Examiner for De Montfort University’s Collision Investigation programs and has authored around 850 reports, regularly providing expert evidence in Magistrates’, Crown, and Coroners’ Courts.

Sarah Francis

Sarah brings over 10 years of experience as a Personal Assistant, with a strong background in providing high-level administrative support. Prior to her current role, she worked for a footwear manufacturing company based in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. At Engineering Forensics, Sarah works closely with the Senior Principal and members of the directorial team, serving as a key point of contact and ensuring the smooth operation of day-to-day activities. Her responsibilities include a full range of secretarial and administrative tasks, such as managing diaries, scheduling meetings and appointments across all levels, and implementing and maintaining effective administrative systems.
