Experience
Jason retired from the West Midlands Fire Service after 30 years in September 2022. During his time in the fire service, he served as a firefighter, supervisory officer, trainee instructor, and a road traffic collision instructor. During the last 14 years of his fire service career, he was a dedicated fire investigation officer heading up the fire investigation team between 2011 and 2014.
As a dedicated fire investigator, Jason has investigated over 800 fires, over 100 of which involved fatalities, including suicides, accidental fire deaths and unlawful killings. He has subsequently provided reports and statements and given expert witness testimony in crown, coroners and civil courts: he has received awards and commendations for his work by both police and fire services.
Jason is an Associate Trainer at the National Fire Service College, Moreton-in-Marsh as a fire investigation trainer and a trainer for FireWiseUK specialising in vehicle and electric vehicle fire investigation training having attained an IMI Level 3 Award in Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Systems. He has trained fire investigators both in the UK and in the Middle East. He is also an examiner for the Institution of Fire Engineers.
He has been a consultant forensic fire investigator for Engineering Forensics Ltd since 2016 and following his retirement became the head of their fire investigation team.
